  • Commonwealth Society Teachers of Dance (CSTD) Level 4 Honours

  • Qualified hairdresser - Certificate III in Hairdressing

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment

  • Diploma of Salon Management

  • 29 Years dance experience.

  • 13 years teaching experience.

  • Experience in dance adjudication and auditions, examination work, eisteddfod work.

 

 

Sarie is a local girl, being born and raised in Crows Nest. She first started dancing at the age of three with Flair Dance Academy, then Dee’s Studio of Dance, both local dance studios.

She has previously owned a dance studio for four years.

 

Sarie has taught for Dee’s Studio of Dance as a student teacher; Dance Central, Toowoomba, Pittsworth and Millmerran studios; Sketa Oz International Ballet Company, Toowoomba; Youth Ballet Theatre, Toowoomba.

 

In 1999 she became involved in theatrical productions. Sarie has choreographed Guys and Dolls, High School Musical 2 - On Stage!, Footloose, Jekyll & Hyde The Musical, and Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and performed in Grease (dance captain), Fiddler on the Roof, Chicago (dance captain), Les Misérables, Brigadoon, The Merry Widow, West Side Story, Hamlet (Shakespeare in the Park) and A Mid Summer Night’s Dream.

 

Sarie has taught and choreographed dance for some skilled people, including Mr Harold Collins MBE (Artistic Director Queensland Ballet Company and Artistic Director Queensland Youth Ballet); Ms Selina Kucks-Cho Artistic Director Seoul Royal Ballet Company (Korea) and Principal/Artistic Director Sketa Oz International Ballet Company; Ms Helena Moore teacher with Australian Dance Performance Institute and international freelance choreographer; Ms Alison Vallette, Principal Dance Central.

 

She has attended many dance workshops and some of these include SFD Teachers 4 Day Course in Melbourne, Los Angles Dance Force, Raw Metal (jazz and tap), Luis Pinto Mega Jam (funk/hip hop), Queensland Ballet Company, Dance Nation (funk/hip hop), Latin Lambada and Barcardi Cuban Showteam (Latin American and Street Latin) as well as a little line dancing.

 

On a personal level Sarie has been honoured to receive an Australia Day Cultural Award and was a recipient of the International Year of the Volunteer Awards for services to the community for involvement with Arts and Dancing. Sarie was the Crows Nest Miss Showgirl 2002 and won the Miss Darling Downs Showgirl title in 2003.

As well as dancing, Sarie also ran her own hairdressing business for over 10 years and taught hairdressing at TAFE.
